Which Class For Me?

Folks, I know some of you may be a little confused as to how to start handgun training. Hopefully this post will answer some of your questions and point you on the right track. And if you have additional questions, I’ll have my contact information at the bottom of the post. Feel free to send them my way and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

First, you should know that you don’t need to have your own handgun in order to start training. I have a class that’s geared specifically for people who have yet to buy their first gun. This is the Familiarization And Safety Training class (FAST).

This is a basic skills class that will introduce you to firearms safety, different types of pistols, ammunition, maintenance procedures, and range protocols. You can also choose which pistol suits you best and use that for the live fire qualification.

If you do have your own handgun, you will be more than welcome to use it for the range portion however you will need to provide your own ammunition.

For the people who have some experience with handguns – especially if they have already owned one for a while – there are two options.

Defensive Handgun 1 offers a basic overview of the different pistol types. It also goes into selecting proper defensive ammunition, and holster types. You will be introduced to the defensive mindset and shooting skills. This course satisfies the training requirement for most CCW licenses nationwide, which is why it’s not typically considered a beginner’s class.

Finally, you should be aware that I can also run a Skill Builder session. This is 240 rounds of different shooting scenarios designed to work on several areas of weapon proficiency.

So there you have it. FAST for brand new shooters or anyone looking to try handguns before buying, Defensive Handgun 1 for those looking to progress to CCW levels of proficiency, and Skill Builder for anyone looking to improve.

Hopefully this has given you a better understanding of where to start. I can be reached via email or text at the following:
